Puttin' On The Ring
Lyrics by Corli
Inspired by Irving Berlin's classic song "Puttin' On The Ritz"

Have you been to Middle Earth?
Hobbits there are full of mirth.
They don't sense the Evil Eye
Lurking east where Mordor lies.

From high up in his tower
He'll try to regain power
He'd rule all the land
But for one little band:

A ring so old, it's almost fright'ning,
Band of gold with secret writing,
Not just bling
Puttin' on the Ring

Put it on when you're in fear
Yes, you'll be gone, you'll disappear,
Though stabs still sting
Puttin' on the Ring

In the river it was found by Deagol.
Lost when he was killed by cousin Smeagol.
Hardly legal!

Came to Bilbo, now he's free
Now "Underhill" is off to Bree
To meet the king
Puttin' on the Ring

[instrumental]

Frodo couldn't toss it in the fire.
Gollum bit a hand for his desire
Then expired!

Now it's done, we're off to home,
To Hobbiton, no more to roam.
That's our ending
Puttin' on the Ring
